Summer tablescape

1. Use statement serveware

Give your delicious dishes the attention they deserve by dotting the table with statement tableware.  For summer, this means brightly coloured pieces and plenty of pattern – the ceramic styles in our beautiful traditional Portuguese Cabbage collection are our serving suggestions.

2. Create a show-stopping centerpiece

Centre the table with anything from flower-filled vases to jugs of iced water for your guests’ refreshment. Our centerpiece of choice? A huge bouquet of fresh-cut garden flowers. It adds a bright pop of colour, as well as a wonderful scent.

3. Lay a colourful tablecloth (or not!)

Say goodbye to boring white tablecloths and introduce a swathe of colour, texture, and pattern with a thin throw or lightweight blanket that pairs well with the serveware you’ll be using. Avoid anything with fluffy yarn and choose a natural material such as cotton that can be easily cleaned after the event. Alternatively, keep it casual, as we have here, and let the natural patina of your table do the work!

4. Use the right glassware

Whether you’re serving coffee or cocktails, water, or wine, it’s important to use proper glassware. If you’re mixing alcoholic drinks, then make sure you choose a glass that’s just right for the recipes you’re shaking. Not only will it add an extra decorative element to your table, but it will also make your drinks taste even better.

5. Don’t forget to decorate

With the menu planned and cutlery polished, the decoration is where you can really get creative. Try weaving in-season flowers or garden greenery between the plates or using patterned placemats or decorative coasters to add a pop of print.
