Long Barn’s Lavender Season 31st July to 8th August It is true to say that an appreciation of lavender in all its glorious manifestations is what brought Long Barn into being over fifteen years ago. What better way, then, to celebrate this inspirational plant, when the lavender fields surrounding the barn will be at their fragrant best, than to join us in an array of lavender-related activities which will run from 31st July to 8th August? Come and find out what makes us tick! LAVENDER TEAS Join us for delicious locally made cakes and teas, ices and cordials, served in our in our lavender fields behind our long barn. Teas served every day 10 -4pm. DAILY TALKS & WALKS THROUGH THE LAVENDER ... Talks on lavender growing in England, distillation and uses of lavender will be given daily at 2.30pm. Free to all, simply give us a call to book in or call in on the day. Why not join us for the talk and then take tea? LAVENDER WORKSHOPS Tuesday, 3 August, Long Barn Lavender Flower Workshop: 10.30 – 12.30 and 2.00 til 4.00pm Our gorgeous and talented local florist, Natasha Thomas, will demonstrate how to make a beautiful lavender-inspired bouquet using summer flowers and our own lavender, freshly picked from our farm fields near Winchester. Price £55. Includes a delicious afternoon tea or morning coffee and cake al fresco and the fabulous floral display you will take with you at the end of the session! Wednesday, 4 August: Long Barn Lavender Wreath Making 10.30 to 3.30. Learn how to make your own lavender wreath with Long Barn supplier Debbie Joss. Price £75.00. Includes a delicious summer lunch al fresco of course the superb 12” lavender packed wreath which you will learn to create on the day! Thursday, 5 August: Children’s lavender day. Lavender craft workshop with Debbie Joss. For children aged 6 – 11. A short talk on lavender followed by a workshop on pot pourri making ... just some of the ideas we have in mind. Classes run for an hour, 4 times a day. Why not bring a picnic to enjoy afterwards with your child on our lovely lavender fields?
KITCHEN GARDENING SCHOOL started on the 20th MARCH and will continue on for 7 months on the 3rd Sat and Wed of every month.
Our next kitchen garden school is on Saturday 17th July and Wednesday 21st July.
